You didn’t even finish reading and already came here, right? I’ll take a guess: you stopped at the fourth or fifth line. And I stopped at the letter C! There’s from A to Z.

But that’s okay. This list of synonyms and nicknames was just to make you realize how many meanings “cachaça” has for Brazilians.

Up until now, ALL GOOD! But we got the challenge surreal of adding one more:

ART.

… but guys, just thinking about it makes me break into a sweat. It’s hard to connect ideas like this.

_ Hey, elegant, bring me one more, I’m going to tell you a story:

***

That cachaça is very much ours, no one doubts. But what few people knew is that it was served for the first time, with pomp and circumstance as the official drink, at the 1922 Modern Art Week.

That’s right, that week that exalted Brazilian arts like no other. Anthropophagy. Only figures like Anita Malfatti, Mário de Andrade, Menotti del Picchia, Oswald de Andrade, and Tarsila do Amaral.

All the people there, showcasing their works and highlighting for everyone our originality, innovation, and national identity, at a vernissage (not a vernissage, let’s call it… ‘a quick stop to check it out’) while the rich folks sipped our best cachaça.

I wasn’t there, but I was told about it.

HERE’S THE THING (slaps the table): did you get what this was all about? Our cachaça was ‘drinkable art’ and highly appreciated alongside the other paintings, poems, and plays that marked the era!

A toast here to cachaça, the modern art! Cheers!

But back to the point: nothing more natural, and you must agree with me, than a new premium cachaça (premium, no… let’s say chic) being named 1922! And do you know who gave it the name, designed the label, the packaging, and everything? Do you know who? Ah, you’re looking at them! It’s the absolute truth, as pure as this one in my glass…

Oops, it’s already gone.

_ Hey, president, bring me one more so I can wet my lips, because today the conversation is too good.

For this beauty here, we created the design (design, no… professional drawing) of the 1922 logo with this thin and elegant font, very striking, but also chic… really beautiful indeed.

There are three variations of the cachaça, and each one is for a different occasion. There’s one for a more relaxed moment, another for a cool drink with friends, and the Reserva, just for those more elegant, special celebrations. Each one has a palette… a combination of colors, better… to make it look really different, but still quite the same… design, you know?

You can make a drink or drink it straight, just like the one I’m having here…

Wow, I already drank it and didn’t even feel it.

_ Hey, my diplomat, bring me one more! By the way, leave the bottle here because I want to talk more about it.

BUT YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT CAME NEXT. The work was so elegant that it became a case (case, no… an advertising story) on a foreign website abroad. What’s the name again? Packaging of the World. I don’t know how to say that, but you can click to check it out. Everything is in English because this beauty here is a national and international success!

What are you thinking? We are not weak!

_ Hey my dear friend, now for the last drink! I promise!

A curiosity here, just to finish and let’s go home: “cachaça” is only the Brazilian drink. It is a material and cultural heritage, and it is only produced under that name in Brazil.

Outside of here, it can only be given another name, and probably none of them as nice (and the drink, also not as good as ours, of course).

Go home safely, okay? And don’t drive, no. Take anuber… (not Uber, ride-sharing).
